Code of Conduct Policy

1. Objective

Our objective is to make Tampere Adult Education Centre a safe and pleasant place for studying and working. This requires common understanding of behaviour and good manners, and recognizing the duties and rights we all have. The best way to achieve this objective is for each member of our school community to commit to them. The purpose of Tampere Adult Education Centre (later TAKK) Code of Conduct Policy is to ensure a safe, pleasant, and peaceful study and work environment, a good atmosphere, and equal treatment of all members of the school community.

2. Scope

This Code of Conduct Policy applies to students’ activities throughout TAKK, and to all premises of our educational institution. Additionally, they are to be followed during study and work trips, company visits, study-related virtual studies, and on social media. In addition to this Policy, other rules and regulations issued for TAKK’s operations are to be followed.

3. Behaviour

Good behaviour requires valuing and respecting other people, accepting differences, taking care of the common environment, and following common agreements and rules. These things can be seen in everyday life, for example as cooperation skills, polite and kind words and actions, caring for others, pleasant learning environments, and good team spirit. Problems and conflicts are dealt with through objective discussion. We have zero tolerance for intoxicants, bullying, disturbing of teaching, threats, and violence. We follow working hours, and thus do not disturb others by being late. We act according to agreements are guidelines. We do not cheat in our studies. We do not let mobile phones or other media devices cause disturbance. We do not display offensive or disturbing images, posts, or symbols.

4. Intoxicants, intoxication, and smoking

The use and possession of intoxicants and being intoxicated in the TAKK area is prohibited. If a student is suspected of being intoxicated, he/she can be removed from the TAKK area. TAKK may oblige a student to blow on a breathalyser or present a certificate of a drug test if there are reasonable grounds to suspect that the student is under the influence of intoxicants in study-related tasks or practical training, or if the student is addicted to drugs. At TAKK, we follow the principle of early intervention. Bringing up the issue and referral to treatment follow separately agreed procedures. However, serving and consuming alcohol is allowed at events that have been licenced for that.  The serving and consuming of alcohol may not disturb these events, however. Smoking/vaping is allowed in designated areas only.

5. Property, safety, and movement

TAKK's property is handled carefully. We will notify the staff of any faults, deficiencies or factors and activities that threaten safety detected in the machines or equipment or in the study environment. We also take good care of our own belongings. TAKK is not responsible for lost property.

TAKK's vehicles are intended for educational activities. The vehicles have a tracking system installed. When driving TAKK vehicles, we drive predictively, economically, and courteously. We leave the vehicles clean and with a full tank for the next user. We take special care when driving at TAKK yards.

The possession of objects and substances suitable for harming other people is prohibited on TAKK premises. However, this does not apply to learning environments that follow their own instructions regarding objects and substances classified as dangerous.

We keep the premises clean and ensure that waste is taken to the containers reser

ed for them without delay. Each user takes care of cleanliness and leaves the teaching facilities tidy for the next user. We practice good hygiene and thus maintain our own health and that of other members of the community. To avoid possible device damages, eating is not allowed in the computer classrooms.

In TAKK's public areas, we carry out technical access control and camera surveillance to maintain security and to verify misuse afterwards. TAKK may disclose material in its possession to authorities to prevent or investigate crimes.
We familiarise ourselves with and follow the separate safety plans and regulations our educational institution has.

6. Informing and information systems

TAKK uses electronic information channels, such as email, Moodle, and intranet, as well as other agreed work platforms, which the students are obliged to follow throughout their studies and the employees throughout their employment.

Each user is responsible for the appropriate use and data security of the information systems. It is not allowed to engage in activities in or through TAKK's information systems that weaken or seek to undermine public morality, private and social security and law-abiding. Commercial use or use for the activities of associations or organizations is permitted only if approved by TAKK.

Each user is obliged to follow TAKK's instructions on the responsible use of the data network.

7. Parking and emergency access routes

Vehicles must be parked in designated parking spaces. Emergency access routes must be kept free and unobstructed. Parking control is carried out in TAKK's parking areas. The parking area of the Tampereen valtatie campus uses eParking system, and the area is covered by general parking control. The students will receive more information on parking at the beginning of their training. Be prepared to give your car licence plate number to the info desk personnel (1st floor) upon arrival. You can get a parking permit for the parking area of the Nirva campus at the information desk.

8. Alarm

In case of an alarm going off, everyone must follow the instructions. In the event of a fire alarm, you must immediately leave the building and go to the gathering place when you have been instructed to do so.

9. Breaking the rules

If a student violates the rules and regulations, he or she will primarily be guided by advice, instructions, and discussion. First, the student discusses the violation with the responsible instructor and if the situation is not resolved, the next step is to discuss the violation with the Education Manager. If these measures are of no help, the Principal may give a written warning to the student. If the act or negligence is serious, or if the student continues to behave inappropriately after receiving a written warning, he or she may be suspended from the educational institution for a fixed period. After the investigation and before the matter is resolved, the student will be given the opportunity to be heard in the matter. The decision on cancelling and restoring the right to study, temporary expulsion and suspension from studies is made by the educational institution committee appointed by the education provider. A student who disturbs teaching can be removed from the learning situation temporarily.

10. Validity

This Policy is valid as of 13 February 2015 and repeal the previous Policy that entered into force on 14 March 1991.
