Starting studies and studying at TAKK

At the beginning of the studies, a study plan is drawn up, according to which the studies begin to progress.

Key issues in TAKK's operations are equality, tolerance, respect and consideration for others, and ensuring a peaceful work and study environment. We can all influence the cleanliness and coziness of our environment through our behaviour. TAKK’s Code of Conduct Policy gives more detailed information on how we all together make TAKK a safe and pleasant learning environment for all of us.

The teaching focuses increasingly on the guidance of learning. Information is not given to you ready-made, but the teaching methods are such that as a learner you reflect, research, ask questions, and are critical. Attention is paid not so much to memorization and learning by heart, but to the use and development of information. Interaction, such as group work, discussions and learning from experiences, play a key role in studying.

Learners also participate in the assessment of their learning. There has been a shift from grading to continuous, developmental, supportative, and encouraging evaluation.

Learning environments

Studies increasingly take place in working life, in various projects, and also online using information technology. Studying at TAKK is a combination of contact, distance, online and independent study.

Almost every job nowadays requires computer skills. Learn to do your assignments on the computer from the very beginning. The instructors help and advise you on the use of the computer. Read more on online studies.

We develop practical learning environments in close cooperation with companies. In this way, we ensure that students receive up-to-date information and competence. Read about TAKK electrical power training field and hydraulics laboratory (in Finnish).
